摘要:
Among stimuli-responsive materials, shape memory polymers are unique in their ability to undergo programmable transformations from one complex shape to another. Conventional shape memory materials typically undergo a single shape change from a temporary shape to a permanent shape in response to a particular thermal transition. Here we developed new strategies for enabling reversible shape transformation in semi-crystalline shape memory (SM) materials, which integrates three different SM behaviors: conventional one-way SM, two-way reversible SM, and one-way reversible SM. We also present a new programming protocol enabling triple shape memory (TSM), in which different shapes may be kinetically programmed at one constant fixation temperature. Finally, using dual network hydrogels with dynamic bonds, we could achieve temporal control of rate and sequence of shape shifting in stimuli-free environment.

Jing Zhou is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,NC, USA, 2014. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of NorthCarolina at Chapel Hill, 2014 and BS in Polymer Science and Engineering, from the ZhejiangUniversity (China), 2008.
